Child Care Facility Inspections

Child Care facility inspections are required by the state for licensed providers, whether it is a preschool, in home, Head Start, group home or a center.

Inspections will be given on an annual basis unless a re-inspection is necessary due to remodeling, construction, if the previous inspection found that the site did not conform to state guidelines or any other special circumstance.

A Lawrence County Health Department Environmental Public Health Specialist will inspect such facilities for the following:

  • water quality
  • sewage
  • hygiene
  • food protection
  • cleaning and sanitizing
  • refuse disposal
  • environmental hazards
  • lead
  • pets
  • pools
  • medicines and other toxic agents
  • pests
